Uplift Salary Scales

Use this wizard when your organization uses grades and scales, to create a new set of scale points for a salary review date. After you create a new set of scale points, you can use Apply Grade Changes in the Personnel or Payroll module (or HR Record > Employment > Apply Grade) to apply the salary increase to one or more grades.

If your organization does not use grades and scales, or if you want to change the salary for employees whose salaries are not based on grades and scales, you can use HR Record > Employment > Enter Salary or Personnel > Utilities > Apply Manual Salary  or Payroll > Functions > Apply Manual Salary to enter a new salary for one employee, or you can use Payroll > Functions > Global Salary Import to enter salaries for multiple employees.

This wizard has eight pages.

On page 1, select the grade from the Grade drop-down list, and click Next.

On pages 2 – 3, you select the range of scale points you want to change. Typically, you select the lowest and then the highest scale point. These two pages are optional, so if you want to change all scale points for the grade, leave these fields blank.

On page 2,  select the scale point from the From drop-down list, and click Next.

On page 3, select the scale point from the To drop-down list, and click Next.

On page 4, in Percentage, type the percentage increase you want to apply to the range of scale points. If  you want to apply a strict value only, leave this field blank. Click Next.

On page 5, in Value, type the value with which you want to increase the scale points. You can apply a value as well as a percentage, or instead of a percentage. Click Next.

On page 6, indicate if you want to round the result of the increase to the nearest pound, select Round to nearest £. Click Next.

On page 7, in From Review, select the salary review date that indicates the scale values to be used as the basis for the increase. This is the review date that the current set of scales is set up against.

On page 8, in To Review, select the salary review date for which the scale values are created. Click Finish.

A new set of scale values is created, based on the set you specified, with the percentage and/or value applied.

You can now use Apply Grade Changes to apply the salary increase to one or more grades, or to apply an incremental scale point increase to employee records, or to analyse potential salaries.
