Occupational Sick

The Occupational Sick submodule enables you to automatically adjust employees’ pay in the current pay period by using the system’s absence records. Alternatively, you can produce a report to identify which employees’ occupational sick pay will reduce or change in the near future.

Employees’ occupational sick pay entitlement is described in their employment terms and conditions and it typically depends on their length of service. For employees to be entitled to a sick pay allowance, they must satisfy the qualifying conditions defined in an occupational sickness scheme. For example, a scheme might state that when employees are employed for five years after the start date of their service, they are entitled to six months’ sickness at full pay and six months’ sickness at half pay. After employees use all their allowance, they have no entitlement.

Employees might be off sick for a long, continuous period, or they might be off sick for several, shorter periods. You can use the Occupational Sick module to produce reports at regular intervals to monitor how much of their allowance employees have used, and to alert you when their entitlements change or end.

Your organization must decide whether to adjust employee pay in the current period, by using the system’s absence records, or to use a report to identify when employees’ entitlements are going to change. To enable the system to adjust employee pay or to report how much of an allowance an employee has used, you must create the occupational sickness schemes and define the priority in which the system examines those schemes.
